#startuppers, water becomes democratic with Daxtro
11 May 2020
The #startuppers webseries continues with the story about the Ticino startup Daxtro, which has developed an innovative system to eliminate limescale and rust from household plumbing and is now ready for the 'scale-up' phase, towards large-scale industrial production.
Daxtro Swiss Sagl is the company created by Jaime Agramontt Diaz, a young industrial engineer of Bolivian and Swiss nationality and for 14 years in Ticino. Jaime has developed a technological device the size of a packet of cigarettes which, in "plug & play" mode, allows home owners to detect the presence of limescale, rust or other debris in the plumbing of their homes. A democratic, pure and affordable product idea. Jaime is now considering the further development of the system to, among other things, protect domestic plumbing from bacteria and other harmful agents.
"In my business plan I have also taken into account the fact that I am of Bolivian origin and the risk of not being accepted by potential customers in Ticino," says Jaime. After an initial contact with the Agire Foundation and the subsequent request - and obtainment - of initial funding from the Bellinzonese e valli regional development agency, Jaime turned to CP Start-up of USI in search of support for the further development of his company, to bring it on an industrial scale. "USI CP Start-up introduced me to some very fine young people who helped me with the development of both an economic and communicative strategy", explains Jaime. "The experience was very positive, because Calogero Amato and Giorgia Pati from Match Strategies helped me not only to work out my idea of finding new funds to invest in the development and production of the new device, but also proposed a solution to look for a merger with a larger company that could invest directly in this development. I also found the communication strategy very useful, which suggested investing resources in content to be published in specialised media, to 'talk' with the target audience and thus increase the credibility of the product," Jaime points out.
