14 July 2021

Four glass cubes, three Swiss cities, four different challenges and five days to solve them. This is InCube Challenge, which will take place from 11 to 15 October 2021 and involve around 20 students across Switzerland and abroad.

Four glass cubic structures will be installed in Switzerland, two at the ETH in Zurich, one in the city center in Zurich and one at USI in Lugano. Each cube will host five students who will work for a week to find an innovative solution to the proposed challenge, a different one for each cube.

Three additional cubes will also be installed abroad, in the United States, South Africa and Singapore.

At the end of the five days, all Swiss teams will meet in Zurich for the final event where the solutions will be presented and the best one will be awarded.

Before entering the cube, the students will take part in a five-day prep course in Crans-Montana to get to know each other, build strong teams and attend design thinking and personal development workshops.

The InCube Challenge is an initiative of the ETH Entrepreneur Club. USI Startup Centre is the official partner and co-organizer for the Lugano Cube.

Who can participate?

What is InCube is about

The world faces many complex problems that heavily impact the way individuals, companies and institutions interact. Entrepreneurship can help address some of these challenges by driving innovative and unprecedented solutions. Universities are in a unique position to inspire their students to acknowledge real-world problems with an entrepreneurial perspective. Providing a dynamic environment and cooperating closely with corporate partners are necessary prerequisites to realize this vision.
InCube helps to bridge this gap, by bringing together universities, students and companies in an inspiring environment. Working in a confined place provides a special setting where innovative ideas are proposed, planned and executed by driven students. The complimentary educational journey ensures that students are equipped with the proper methodologies, tools and skills to evolve an abstract idea into a prototype that they can develop further.
