What technological advances will shape the Swiss economy and society in the coming years? The Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW, SUPSI and USI invite you to the presentation of Technology Outlook SATW 2021, which will be held on Tuesday, 16 November 2021, from 11 am in the multipurpose room of the new East Campus in Lugano. Some of the most promising technologies described and analysed in the publication will be presented, as well as some of the most interesting applications in the industry. Admission is free upon presentation of a Covid pass. Registration is required via an online form.

After the welcome address by the SUPSI Council President Alberto Petruzzella, USI Council President Monica Duca Widmer will give an introductory speech and present Technology Outlook 2021. Following, two keynote speeches by SATW members: "Additive manufacturing in the industry" by Anna Valente (Head of the Automation, Robotics and Machine Laboratory at the Department of Innovative Technologies, SUPSI) and "Artificial Intelligence in the industry" by Alessandro Curioni (IBM Fellow, Vice President, Europe & Africa and Director, IBM Research - Zurich).

The round table Research and Innovation "What opportunities for Ticino's companies?" will be moderated by Natascha Fioretti, featuring, in addition to the previous speakers, the Director of the Department of Innovative Technologies of SUPSI Emanuele Carpanzano and the Professor at USI Faculty of Informatics Cesare Alippi. In the end, participants will be offered a networking aperitif.

The Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW (www.satw.ch) is Switzerland's leading network of experts in technical sciences. It is in contact with the major Swiss bodies in the fields of science, politics and industry. The network consists of individual elected members, affiliated societies and experts. In addition, the SATW, on behalf of the federal government, identifies industrially relevant technological developments and informs politics and society about their significance and consequences.
