The USI Startup Centre Annual Report 2021 is out

The report looks back at 2021 to highlight the progress made by the incubated startups and reveal key statistics. It also provides information on the USI Startup Centre developments, events and other activities that foster an entrepreneurial culture, incentivise knowledge and experience sharing and support early-stage startup projects in their development.
As of 31st December 2021, USI Startup Centre counted 28 incubated startup projects in five different sectors: “ICT”, “Life Science”, “Engineering”, “Energy and Environment” and “Social Science and Business Management”. The report indicates the most significant statistics that help draw a picture of their overall progress based on the self-reported information. In particular, the data shows that 2021 was an important year in terms of fundraising. Five startups incubated at USI Startup Centre raised close to CHF 3M from VCs and Business Angels. In addition, 11 startup projects received a total amount of CHF 815K in the form of cash prizes, research grants, crowdfunding or other support.
Furthermore, the report highlights activities, projects and collaborations of the USI Startup Centre. For example, in 2021 the USI Startup Centre team organised numerous events involving over 500 participants and 30 speakers, including four meetings within the Innosuisse start-up training framework. Moreover, the USI Startup Centre team was involved in many partner initiatives and contributed to the fourth edition of the Boldbrain Startup Challenge and Climathon Mendrisiotto, among others. Throughout the report, there are several highlights dedicated to specific events and initiatives as well as a few startup stories from currently incubated startups and alumni.
